Annual Conference Turku, Finland, 1 & 2 June 2006

Best Practices in Transfer of Science and Technology

Introduction

ASTP invites you to Turku, the former capital of Finland. The city is located in an area which has the oldest cultural traditions in Finland and is surrounded by the vicinity of the sea and the beautiful Archipelago!
We offer you an interesting program with many experienced speakers from Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, Greece, the UK and the US.
We are very happy to welcome our Key note speaker, Mr Richard Jefferson from CAMBIA, who is travelling all the way from Australia to join us for the opening session and final debate!

Turku is not as easy to get as many of our past venues but we were won over by the enthusiasm and help of our members there, the beauty of the region (the social programs promises to be spectacular), but most of all by the fact that Turku is at the centre of a high technology cluster.

We have managed to arrange special discounts for flights and will offer an extra dinner on Friday evening, for those who wish to stay longer (since flying back on Saturdays will be substantially cheaper)

Program
The program offers interactive sessions on the following topics:

* Plenary sessions on  "Open source" Biotech -  Power Networking - Third world protection as a TTO Strategy.

* Introductory Course on Patent Strategy (Managing the Patent Portfolio - Does industry differ: a business perspective of patenting - Experiences before and after a major deal making -

Choosing and using your Patent Agent - Getting the maximum 'bang-per-buck').
* Parallel sessions on Looking at TTO (The Finland case – Financing your TTO operation – Research on TTO – How to get better Entrepreneurs? - Educating Faculty on Technology Transfer).

* And a third track on Connecting to Industry (Bridging the gap – The strong link – Open Innovation: a sharing model – A success story in Techtransfer– Via venture capital to a trade sale).
