Introduction
We are delighted to announce that ASTP has teamed up with Praxis to deliver a major new Technology Transfer Training Programme across Europe. The first course, entitled ‘Fundamentals of Technology Transfer’ is to be held in Lisbon on the 13th – 15th of April 2005.
These new courses
are a natural extension of the ‘educational track’ that has become a
feature of all ASTP conferences. Our objective is to
provide practitioner-led training to more junior members of the profession
– the end result being that they learn from
experience of others and are able to transfer technology more
effectively into industry and spin-out companies. The new courses offer a
different forum to learn – one that is more intimate and interactive.
Many
of you will have heard of ‘Praxis’, which is based in the UK
(www.praxiscourses.org.uk).
Praxis was created two years ago by a group of experienced Technology
Transfer Managers frustrated at the lack of relevant, high quality courses
for their own staff. It has grown quickly to become the largest technology
training organisation in the UK
– its courses are always over-subscribed.

first joint course, ‘Fundamentals of Technology Transfer’ is the answer
for people who have recently joined the profession, and for those who would
like to set- up new offices across
The main features of the course are its informal style of presentation and interaction between participants. The sessions are a mixture of seminar-style talks and smaller, break-out groups to discuss and report back on specific case studies - during the feedback sessions the different results of all the groups are discussed and the speaker(s) – all of them experienced practitioners – add their own perspective. Active participation is essential to gain as much information as possible as a delegate. Our aim is to create an informal and pleasant atmosphere during the course, so everyone feels comfortable and gets to know all the other delegates.
Cocktail and Dinner
Besides the formal part, the course also has plenty of informal elements giving you the opportunity to meet other delegates and share knowledge. On tuesday evening the 12th the course will start witt the registration and an introduction cocktail from 18.30 until 20.00. On Wednesday evening the 13th we invite all delegates to join us for dinner in the inner city of Lisbon. By Thursday evening you will know each other well enough to disappear into the nightlife of Lisbon in your own groups!

The programme is based heavily on the Praxis course of the same name. A number of Praxis speakers are participating in this first joint course – along with others drawn from more experienced members of ASTP. The programme is almost finalised and can be seen by pressing here
Course fee
The
registration fee depends on whether you are a member of ASTP or not:

(excluding 19% VAT)

Non members € 1495,- (excluding 19% VAT)
Please
note that ASTP Members are offered an one time opportunity to nominate two
staff from their office (plus themselves if they want) to attend the course
at the Member rate.
The three-day course includes: coffee/tea, refreshments, lunches, reception on Tuesday, social dinner on Wednesday and course materials. The fee does not include overnight accommodation. Please contact our Secretariat for hotel suggestions.
Registration
The
maximum number of participants is 55 (based a first come, first serve
basis). If you wish to sign up for the course,
please
complete
the Registration
form
and
send it by fax to the Secretariat of ASTP + 31 70 392 63 75. As soon as we
received your registration form, a confirmation letter, an invoice and
logistical details on the venue will be sent to you.
We
fully expect the course to be a sell-out – if you wish to participate then
you should send in your registration as soon as possible.
Booking conditions
Payment
must be received at least one week before the course start date. 50%
of the course fees will be refunded for written cancellations received two
weeks before the course start date. Substitutions may be made up to 2 weeks
before the course start date, but we will charge you € 90,- administration
costs.
